2010 Ubud Writes & Readers Festival
The 2010 Ubud Writers & Readers Festival will take place from 6 – 10 October, 2010.
This year’s theme is Bhinneka Tunggal Ika: Harmony in Diversity. Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, the Indonesian national motto, is a quotation from the ancient Javanese poem the Sutasoma. The concept promotes respect between all people, whatever the ethnic, regional, social or religious differences. Our theme will lead the way to hot debates on the religious dogmas, political ideologies and national allegiances that divide the world.
We will welcome writers from Bosnia, Sri Lanka, Burma, Kashmir, Pakistan, the Congo and Iran, voices of those seldom heard, as emerging and established writers from around the globe once again come together for five days of conversation, readings, workshops and performances in the most breathtaking venues.
Full program will be online in August. Sign up for our newsletter to receive regular updates of writers and special events, travel packages, special offers and more!
